Dear Parents and Carers,
Firstly, a huge thank you to everyone who was involved in our Athletics Carnival yesterday. We are so grateful for our parent volunteers and for the Merici team, this amazing support ensures we can run this event. Heartfelt thanks to Erin Hardwicke and her team of helpers, please see the photos later in this newsletter.
Thank you also to Erika Tokich for her organisation with the Youth Team for our Mother’s Day Liturgy last week. It was great to see so many Mums, Grandmas and special friends who shared some lovely time with us. Please visit our Facebook site, we posted many beautiful photos.

Welcome Pope Leo XIV
It was fitting that last Sunday was Good Shepherd Sunday as the Church welcomed a new Pope and shepherd- Pope Leo XIV. Archbishop Christopher Prowse has released a statement for our communities which is attached to this newsletter. We join together in praying for our new Pope as he continues the legacy of Pope Francis.
Building Resilience at Home: Webinar with Luke Davis
We had another wonderful opportunity last night to share some great ideas for building resilience at home. I can recommend the session for all our families. Responses from the TRP team are evidence based and backed by research here are some of my take-aways- there were many:
- When our kids are having a tough moment or upset etc. instead of saying “it’s OK’’
Try saying “I’m here” “I’m with you”
- 3 quick ways of changing mood- music, exercise, laughter
- After 21 days of writing down things we are grateful for in a day, we begin to scan our environment for more positives
- If you have Instagram check out @goodnews_movement
We know that learning about and practising gratitude, empathy and mindfulness works- watch this webinar and find out ways you can join us in shaping a better future for our children.
Please see the link below
Thank you to all our community for their continued support.
Many Blessings,
Judy Egan

Mother’s Day Liturgy
Last Friday, we came together as a whole school community to celebrate God’s gift of mothers, grandmothers, and the special women in our lives with a Mother’s Day Liturgy. We gave thanks and praise for the women who protect, comfort, and love us unconditionally. We also took time to honour Mary, the Mother of Jesus and a spiritual mother to us all.
Thank you to the Youth Group for their support on the day, and to all members of our community who joined us in this special celebration.

Parent and Carer series: Exploring the online experiences of boys and young men
For boys and young men, the internet can be a place where they seek connection, validation and guidance as they explore what it means to be a man today. However, it also exposes them to risks like harmful content, online exploitation and the growing influence of misogynistic ideologies.
This 45-minute webinar will help parents understand:
- the social and cultural influences shaping boys and young men
- how boys engage online, build relationships and how they may be vulnerable to manipulation or exploitation
- the impact of social media, gaming, and influencers on their attitudes, behaviours and sense of identity.
This presentation will share practical strategies to build critical thinking, challenge harmful narratives, and create open conversations that empower boys and young men to navigate the online world safely and respectfully.
Term 2 (Australian Eastern Standard Time)
- 27 May, 12.30pm
- 30 July, 12.30pm
New Direct Debit Payment Option Coming Soon!
We are pleased to announce that St Michael's Primary, Kaleen has recently introduced the BPoint Enterprise Solution to manage direct debit arrangements for the payment of school fees.
What is BPoint and What Do You Need to Do?
BPoint is a secure Commonwealth Bank payment processing platform designed to facilitate online payments, while ensuring the highest security standards. This system safeguards your financial information using industry-leading security measures.
Our new direct debit platform will allow you to pay school fees using either a bank account or a credit card (excluding AMEX). Please note that payments made via credit card will incur a 0.5% surcharge.
Establishing Direct Debits.
Families will receive an email outlining estimated weekly, fortnightly, and monthly repayment options to ensure all fees are paid by the end of the year. These amounts will also include any outstanding 2024 balances.
What next?
You will receive an email that will provide a start date for direct debits and options for selecting your preferred payment frequency. Once a payment frequency is selected, you will be directed to enter your bank/credit card details. Once the information is entered, you will receive an email from no-reply@bpoint.com.au . The email will contain two links,
- The first link requires confirmation of the direct debit arrangement. Please note that the link will expire within 7 days.
- The second link provides a copy of the eDDRSA for your records.
While using the direct debit payment option is not compulsory, many families find it helpful in staying up to date with their financial obligations.
