Dear St Michael’s Parents and Carers,
A very warm welcome to all our families, those returning to us after time away, our new Kindergarten families and several families who have recently enrolled with us. It was wonderful to see you all yesterday and to see the students so excited to see their friends and share a few yarns!
Please stay in touch with your teachers and with our community by ensuring you have the Compass App on your phone. All communication reminders, permissions, excursions and importantly any emergency notifications will occur via the App. It is crucial that all families have the App. If you know of anyone who needs support downloading the Compass App or you would like some assistance, please call in at the front office- Monday to Wednesday, Maria Papasidero can assist. Welcome back also to our Front Office Manager Lynda Logan. Lynda can assist you with any enquiries or questions and works in a full-time capacity.
For all communication around your child/ren the first point of call is the classroom teacher. Our Vision “to live in Harmony” ensures we place a high priority on respectful and courteous communications with all parties. Please be aware that teachers cannot address emails during the day when they are in class, they will reply within 48 hours. Sometimes email communication can be misinterpreted or not convey the meanings intended. Please feel free to pick up a phone and chat with us, especially if the matter is urgent, often things can be sorted with a conversation. We would love you to stay in touch with events by reading our Newsletter and keeping an eye on our Facebook page. We will post photographs, event reminders and information on Facebook, however Compass is the most important platform for us and for your access to up-to-date information.
A reminder that morning supervision commences at 8:20am. Students should not arrive prior to this time as they are not safely supervised.
It has been a wonderful start to the year, and I heartily thank our staff for their preparation in ensuring students feel safe, happy and supported.
Blessings for 2025 as we walk together in faith and hope.

Out of Hours School Care at St Michael’s
Community Services #1 are the providers of our Out-of-Hours School care. Please email: StMichaels@communityservices1.org
We have been advised that unless numbers grow in the Before School sessions only 7am-8:30am, this service may not be offered. Please consider using the morning service if needed or letting others know that it is available as we know that it is important for some families and it would be disappointing to lose this option.
Religious Education News - Erika Tokich
Welcome to the new school year of 2025! In preparation for the new school year, all staff participated in our annual Spirituality Day. This year’s theme was ‘Walking Together in Hope and Action’ based on the Scripture story ‘The Road to Emmaus’, which highlights the importance of listening to each other with compassion and remembering that Jesus is always walking alongside us. Staff developed their knowledge and understanding of synodality and reflected on their role as Catholic educators, walking together in the evangelising mission of the school. What a privilege it is to be a community which celebrates Jesus’ great love for us all.
Opening School Year Mass
All are welcome to attend our Whole School Opening Mass which will celebrate the beginning of the new school year. During the mass there will be a blessing of our Year 6 student leaders, students and staff of 2025. Year 6 leaders will also be presented with their leadership roles and badges. The mass will commence at 9:30am, Thursday 20th February in the St Michael’s Church.
