Dear Parents and Carers,
From all reports it was a wonderful day at Boorowa for our school community. Many of our students took on the challenge of a new sport and showed courage and determination in working together as a team. Teachers were hugely proud of our teams and I know we are all grateful for family members who were able to attend, coach or help out in any way.
Grandparents and Special Friends Day
We welcome our Grandparents and special friends this Friday. Via the library sliding doors, we will gather at 9am in our courtyard and Grandparents will join classes for morning prayer and a classroom activity.
We will then walk to the Church at 10am for a special liturgy. Please note, after the liturgy we will stay together in the Church for our Friday Awards Ceremony. Students will return to class and grandparents will be invited for a cuppa. To assist us with catering we have sent out reminders via Compass to RSVP by today. Please phone us or email if you have any questions or concerns.
My thanks to Bridgette McCann, Erika Tokich, Maria Papasidero and the staff team for their organisation of Grandparents Day.
Congratulations
Congratulations to Mahlia Gafa for winning the Track and Field 10 years Girls ACT Age Champion! Mahlia continues to set high standards for herself and achieve incredible results, well done Mahlia!
We will present her medal at Assembly on Friday following the Grandparents liturgy.
Financial Updates
We are sincerely grateful to all our families who are committed to paying school fees. We have been advised that families will receive an email from CE - donotreply-accounts@cg.catholic.edu.au email address. This is an authentic CECG email address and is not SPAM.
Each family will be requested to either select “Yes” or “No” regarding their intention to contribute to the Building Fund.
The Building Fund is a crucial way families can support our schools, it is vital to the maintenance and upkeep of our school facilities and I encourage your support of this fund.
Family Information 2024
We understand many families have change of circumstances towards the end of the year. Please advise us promptly if your child/ren will not be returning in 2024 so we can ensure we have updated class lists.
CE System Days
This Thursday, I will be attending the CE Catholic Leaders’ Day followed by further meetings with Principals on Friday.
Finally, on your behalf, may I wish our wonderful teachers a very happy World Teacher’s Day on Friday! We are truly privileged at St Michael’s, to have a team of teachers who are dedicated, professional and wholeheartedly committed to your wonderful children.
Many blessings,
Judy Egan
Today, we welcomed Jared Bussell, one of our Catalyst coaches from WA. Jared observed teachers, gave feedback to staff and completed teaching demonstrations for staff to observe. In our Wednesday afternoon Professional Learning session, Jared was able to share current research on best practice and discuss ways our staff can continue to improve teaching strategies.
We really enjoyed working with Jared and his positive and supportive observations of staff are reinforcing the excellent and continuous progress of our wonderful teaching team.

Whole School Focus: Compassion
Our Harmony Awards for the next two weeks will celebrate students who display our school value of compassion. Compassion is more than recognising the suffering of others, it is taking action to help. Having a compassionate heart helps put caring in action. Students will be reflecting on what compassion means and how they can show compassion towards others. Acts of compassion could include using kind words, helping grandparents or the sick and assisting with chores. For the next two weeks we will be celebrating students who demonstrate compassion towards others during our Harmony Awards.
On Friday we will be acknowledging and celebrating the gift of grandparents and special friends in our St Michael’s community. Elderly relatives play a vital and unique role in the lives of children. There is a special bond between the elderly and children. They share their stories, wisdom, time and unconditional love. We give thanks for all grandparents and special friends are warmly invited to join us on Friday between 9-11 for activities, a liturgy and morning tea.
All Saints and Souls Day
Next Tuesday and Wednesday the Church celebrates All Saints Day and All Souls Day. All Saints Day (November 1st) is when the Catholic Church celebrates all those who are with God in heaven. Feast days for different ‘famous’ saints are spread over the year, however on All Saints Day, we thank God for all wonderful and faith-filled people in heaven. God challenges us to live a great life and we can all strive to live a ‘saintly’ life. All Souls Day (November 2nd) is a time for us to remember those who are on their final journey to be with God. We acknowledge all those who have died with prayerful faith and hope that they will have eternal rest in God’s love.

Boorowa Touch Football and Netball Carnival
A fantastic day was had at the Boorowa Touch Football and Netball Carnival last Friday. Our students had a fun day of competition, many of them playing the sport for the first time, and were wonderful representatives of our school.
A big thank you to all the parents, coaches, managers, umpires and teachers who supported our students on the day. A particular shout out to the Pollock and Lawn families who assisted with transporting equipment.
We are already looking forward to participating again next year.
