Dear Parents and Carers,
Last Thursday evening I was privileged to attend the 2023 Faith in Learning Excellence Awards at St Christopher’s Cathedral in Manuka. After Mass, Archbishop Christopher Prowse presented awards to teachers across the Archdiocese. Congratulations to Danielle Madsen, Jess Hallahan and Laura Frogley who received Highly Accomplished and Lead Teacher Awards (HALT). I was so proud of our current and previous staff for their accomplishments.
On Friday Erika Tokich and I attended the Key Leaders Day with Principals, Coordinators and Parish Priests from across the Archdiocese of Canberra/Goulburn. Archbishop Prowse introduced the Year of the Holy Spirit, reminding us that in Catholic Schools we are challenged to be places where our students encounter Jesus. The day also focused on a discussion around Religious Education considering the success of Catalyst initiatives. Please find a copy of the prayer cards for the year of the Holy Spirit in your child’s bag today.
As of this Friday, I am fortunate to be able to access some long service leave at the end of this term and I sincerely thank Bridgette McCann who will be Acting Principal and Danielle Madsen who will be Acting Assistant Principal during my absence.

Father’s Day
Father's Day is a special celebration honouring fathers, father figures, fatherhood, paternal bonds, and the influence of fathers in society. This Sunday we will celebrate the fathers in our lives. We especially thank all the St Michael’s Dads for their love and support and ask God to bless them today and always. We hope to see many of our fathers this Friday at the Father’s Day Liturgy. The liturgy will be at 9.15am and led by our Year 5/6 classes.
Father’s Day Prayer
We pray for all fathers, grandfathers, step-fathers, and fatherlike figures in our lives, may God bless them abundantly.
We pray for all the fathers who have passed, may we hold them in our memory and in our hearts and honor them today.
We pray for all those longing to become fathers, may You guide them through this hard time.
St. Joseph, may you intercede in the lives of all fathers struggling, and may you pray for them to draw near to God the Father.
We pray to the Lord,
AMEN
Questioning
Our Harmony Awards for weeks 7 and 8 will celebrate students who display our school key for learning; questioning. Questioning is a way of engaging in and strengthening our learning. It promotes critical thinking and is fundamental in communication. When we are curious about our environment, we ask questions and want to learn. We look forward to celebrating students who are inquisitive learners and actively seek new information.
Confirmation
Tomorrow all Year 6 students will participate in a Confirmation Retreat Day. We will celebrate Mass and then spend the day participating in activities to enrich our understanding of the Holy Spirit. Tomorrow night, candidates will be joined with their parents to attend a Parent/Child Formation Evening as part of their preparation to receive the Sacrament. Please keep candidates and their families in your thoughts and prayers as they will be confirmed this coming Tuesday the 5th of September.
