Communication with the school community is an essential two-way element in being connected in a meaningful way.
There are currently several opportunities to provide parents and guardians with the capacity to provide feedback, to be heard and for the community to share in the quality of mutual understanding of what we are doing well and in what we can improve upon.
Of course, parents and guardians are encouraged to contact the school at any time to provide meaningful feedback as it relates to individual children and their needs. Interview times and other activities are scheduled throughout the school calendar - In addition, I want to invite participation in an important parent survey (called Tell Them From Me - TTFM) - a valuable tool to help us understand where we are at and help us further pave and resource an improved way forward. Further details on how to participate in this survey will be sent out later in the term.
Another communication strategy is a Parent/ Class Contact person - so that parents may have an opportunity to share emails and contact numbers between one another as an' opt in' for liaising throughout the school year - for social and well-being support for one another.
Nominations, therefore, are sought from parents of each class to be that point of contact. Please email your class teacher as listed below for the process to begin:

Week 4 Newsletter
Thank You
Thank you to the Year 3/4 teachers and students who led our Mother’s Day liturgy last Friday. The liturgy was a celebration of our mothers and mother figures in our lives. It also honoured Mary the Mother of God. The students reverently shared readings, prayers and songs in honour and praise of all mothers.
Thank you to Fr Mick and the Our Lady of Perpetual Help Parish who gifted St Michael’s school with a magnificent statue of Mary. The statue is currently on display in the front office in honour of Mary this month, and will be treasured by our community.
Finally, thank you one and all for your generous donations to Project Compassion this year. As a community we raised $225. This donation will be greatly appreciated by Caritas Australia.
Whole School Focus – Live in Harmony
Our Harmony Awards, this and last week, celebrate students who display our school value of courage. Courage is not the absence of fear, rather, facing fears and overcoming them. In classes, students have been exploring what it means to have courage and how the Holy Spirit can help us to be brave.

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education News
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Education
To continue to raise awareness of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander history and cultures, all students at St Michael’s will attend a performance KADUL with Ryka Ali on Thursday 18th May. The performance will include participatory dances with students and explorations of various instruments, artefacts, costumes and ‘painting up’ with ochre (along with student volunteers). As well as performing and teaching dances with audience participation, Ryka will demonstrate playing the didgeridoo.
Also, students will be participating in activities for National Sorry Day (Friday 26th May) and Reconciliation Week (27th May – 3rd June). If you would like to find out more about St Michael’s vision and commitment to Reconciliation, please read the school’s Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP), attached below.
If you have any questions regarding Aboriginal Education at St Michael’s, please contact me using the following email. danielle.madsen@cg.catholic.edu.au
Our school athletics carnival will be held on Friday 9 June at Kaleen playing fields.
Please contact me via email if you have any questions, feedback or are able to offer your assistance at any of our sporting events throughout the year.

SCHOOL SPORT ACT TRIALS – Please keep an eye on the School Sport ACT website www.schoolsportact.asn.au for upcoming ACT trials. The process for registering can be found below. If you need any assistance registering your child please feel free to ask for assistance.
How to register your child with School Sport ACT
School Sport ACT now collects all registration information online – this is to prevent the movement to and fro of a paper note and have all information readily available to officials prior to the trial. As this process incurs a fee for data storage, system maintenance and admin, a small $5 fee payment via credit card will be required.
- Go to the School Sport ACT website – www.schoolsportact.asn.au
- Click Register (top right corner of homepage) for an Account – enter parent details and password
- A confirmation email will be sent to your chosen email that will contain a link that you must click on to verify the email account.
- Click Log In (top right hand corner of home page) enter password then click on top tab My Profile
- You will see a ‘dashboard’ of your information, click green box to Add Student – enter student and medical details and save.
- Go to the Sports Tab – choose your specific sport, click on Trial Information box then click on the Register to Trial link.
- Select your child’s name from the dropdown box and then enter the optional fields for Playing History, Preferred Position (if applicable) and Representative Experience. If you are already in the system, ensure your child’s school is up to date in your profile – have they moved onto High School?
