Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you to all our families who came along to goal-setting meetings. It was great to see everyone taking up the opportunity to set goals with students and to continue to build important relationships for the coming year.
Rainbow Awards Assembly
This Friday, 31st March in the Hall at 9am, we would like to acknowledge our Rainbow Award winners.
Our Rainbow Awards are presented every term. Two students from each class are selected by their class teacher. These students are recognised for displaying our school values. This is not just to focus on academic achievement, but to recognise students who support others, show compassion and empathy, challenge themselves, listen to feedback from teachers, display a positive attitude and are an overall good role model for others. Students receive a small award to recognise this achievement. Each teacher will read out the reasons as to why each child is being presented with a Rainbow Award.
Congratulations to the following students.

Year 5/6 Camp
It was wonderful witnessing our students having such a great time at Camp Birrigai. On behalf of all our Year 5/6 families I want to express a HUGE thank you to the teachers and CSAs who came along to support everyone at Camp. Teachers are on duty 24 hours at camp and while rewarding, it is an exhausting experience. Teachers also take time away from their own families to support our school students at camp and I want to acknowledge their dedication and care.
Easter Buns
Thank you to our Community Council members Caitin Blackford and Julie Halley for their organisation of Easter Buns this year. The Buns will arrive this Friday 31st of March and will be given to students. Thank you also to Lynda Logan for her setting up and support with payments.
Emergency Management
Catholic Education is working with all schools to ensure we have best practice for emergency procedures. I recently attended training with a group of Principals and all St Michael’s staff will be receiving training in Term 2. This term as part of our ongoing safety management, we have completed evacuation and lock down drills. Catholic Education is also continuing our refurbishments by replacing our front door with a more secure, automated version with entry to be controlled by front office staff.
Staff news
I want to take this opportunity to say a HUGE thank you to Lisa Mammoliti who has stepped in for us in the role of Year 1/2 teacher and Religious Education Coordinator this term. Lisa has been a wonderful contributor to our community and we thank her sincerely and wish her well for her upcoming leave. We will farewell Lisa at Assembly this Friday 31st March.
Erika Tokich visited Year 1/2 Y yesterday and spent some time getting to know the children and working with Lisa. We extend a warm welcome to Erika who will take on the REC and classroom role with Mr Michael Washington for the remainder of 2023.
Thank you to all our families for your continued support as we edge closer to Easter.
Many Blessings,
Judy Egan

Religious Education
Reflection for the fifth week of Lent.
In our lives, we experience moments when fear and doubt fill our hearts. The story of Lazarus conveys a significant message to all of us. It invites us to trust in Jesus even at those terrible moments when we experience extreme sadness or fear.
God of Hope, come!
Enter into the lives of those I hold dear, the ones whose
lives are marked with pain, struggle, and deep anxiety,
those whose lives bear ongoing heartaches, those whose difficulties threaten to overwhelm them with helplessness and despair.
Come and gift them with a deep belief about you and
your never-ending faithfulness and companionship.
God of Hope, come!
Enter into every human heart that cries out for a glimpse of your love, for a sigh of your welcoming presence, for a taste of your happiness.
Be the one who calms the restless and gentles the aches of the human journey.
Amen

Fifth Week of Lent Project Compassion brings together Australian schools, parishes and supporters to raise funds for people in vulnerable communities across the world. This year, we introduced you to the story of four inspiring people whose lives have been transformed with your generous support: Laxmi, Tereesa, Priscilla and Thu. Today, they are creating a better world for their families, their communities and for all future generations. Project Compassion is a demonstration of the faith, empathy and generosity of our supporters. It is the lifeblood of Caritas Australia – without it, we could not do the vital work we do. Thank you for helping transform lives today and for all future generations. Please support Project Compassion: www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion

SCHOOL SPORT ACT TRIALS – Please keep an eye on the School Sport ACT website www.schoolsportact.asn.au for upcoming ACT trials. The process for registering can be found below. If you need any assistance registering your child please feel free to ask for assistance.
How to register your child with School Sport ACT
School Sport ACT now collects all registration information online – this is to prevent the movement to and fro of a paper note and have all information readily available to officials prior to the trial. As this process incurs a fee for data storage, system maintenance and admin, a small $5 fee payment via credit card will be required.
- Go to the School Sport ACT website – www.schoolsportact.asn.au
- Click Register (top right corner of homepage) for an Account – enter parent details and password
- A confirmation email will be sent to your chosen email that will contain a link that you must click on to verify the email account.
- Click Log In (top right hand corner of home page) enter password then click on top tab My Profile
- You will see a ‘dashboard’ of your information, click green box to Add Student – enter student and medical details and save.
- Go to the Sports Tab – choose your specific sport, click on Trial Information box then click on the Register to Trial link.
- Select your child’s name from the dropdown box and then enter the optional fields for Playing History, Preferred Position (if applicable) and Representative Experience. If you are already in the system, ensure your child’s school is up to date in your profile – have they moved onto High School?
