Dear Parents and Carers,
Catalyst Feedback
At St Michael’s we believe in a culture of self-improvement. Teachers and students set learning goals and aspire to challenge themselves to grow and learn. I wanted to briefly share some of the feedback to teachers from Associate Professor Lorraine Hammond AM, PhD, CF in her visit last week. Congratulations to our teachers.
- You have a lovely manner with the students, and you efficiently had your class prepare for learning.
- I am seeing lots of creativity.
- This was an excellent routine, your pace and attention to instructional language is terrific. Your students were very busy the whole time and you taught really well.
- Your delivery is excellent and your articulation of sounds is perfect.
Grandparents Visit
On Friday 4th November we are looking forward to welcoming our wonderful Grandparents and special friends to St Michael’s. The plan is to meet in the Church at 12pm for a school prayer. Grandparents are then welcome to visit the classrooms. It would be lovely for Grandparents and students to share lunch together around the school grounds from 1pm. Grandparents and students are invited to bring along lunch to share together.
40th Anniversary Updates
We are really looking forward to celebrating our 40th Anniversary on November 19th 11am-2pm. Rain, hail or shine! What can you do to help?
- Volunteer to help Community Council members at the BBQ
- Assist with supervision of stalls
- Keep an eye on the first aid table
- Assist with security
- Bring in some second hand books for the Book Stall
Please contact Maria at the front office if you are available during the day, we really appreciate the support maria.papasidero@cg.catholic.edu.au
Pupil-Free Day Friday 16th December
Ross Fox, the Director of Catholic Education has allocated one staff development day for all ACT schools on the last day of term 4- being Friday 16 December. A letter from Ross to the community is attached. Our community has been incredibly supportive of these days throughout the year and we advise that the last day of school for all St Michael’s students will be Thursday 16th December.
Term Overviews
Classroom teachers have prepared term overviews which will be sent via COMPASS this week, please keep an eye out for these. Students have made a great start to the term and with luck, the weather will begin to warm up.
Thank you for your continued support.
Many Blessings,

Religious Education News - Meaghan Younger
RE in 3/4
This term 3/4 students will begin by exploring the concept of Reconciliation. They will learn about God’s unending love and how Jesus modelled for us how to live as people of harmony. When teaching Jesus often used parables to get across his message. Students will look at some key parables including the prodigal son, the lost coin and the lost sheep. There are many short videos online available to look at these together as a family. Some simple ones are linked below:

October is the month of Catholic Mission. We take time to reflect on the wonderful work done by missionaries around the world. On Friday 28/10 we will begin the day with a Whole School Prayer Time in our church. 5/6 will lead us in prayer focusing on Catholic Mission.
