Principal's Page - Judy Egan

Dear Parents and Carers,

Congratulations to the students and their families who will be Celebrating the Sacrament of First Eucharist in the coming weeks. A huge thanks to Fr. Mick and the Parish Team and to Erika Tokich our Religious Education Coordinator liaising with Melanie Stratford (REC) St Monica’s. A lot of preparation has gone into the Retreat Day tomorrow and the preparation of students to receive this beautiful sacrament. May the Holy Spirit bless and strengthen everyone on this special day.

Capturing Memories

In this amazing technological world, we can use images and video to record our family journey and create wonderful memories. At school we have the responsibility to ensure the safety of all students and for some families this can be compromised via sharing of images online. As part of our enrolment contract parents sign a document agreeing that they will behave respectfully when using social media, WhatsApp groups etc.

This is a reminder that parents need to seek permission before taking photos or video of other students. It is not a safe practice to post images online of students without parental permission. We have a generous and respectful community, and we ask all our families to be vigilant in this area. If you would like further clarification see section 6.3 in the CECG Policy Student Acceptable Use of ICT Policy

Cold and Flu time

With the onset of Winter, colds and flu viruses become more prevalent. We thank our families who ensure that students who are unwell do not attend school. This helps sick children to rest and recover and reduces the risk of spreading viruses at school. We have been fortunate to cover most classes with relief staff if teachers are sick. If relief staff become unwell, teachers have pre-prepared learning booklets and students are supervised by other teachers across the school.

Wet Weather Pick Up

We have decided that we will disband the practice of wet weather pick up. It is often difficult to make a call with weather and confusing for everyone if we don’t post a Compass reminder to families. Normal pick up will apply at all times. If it is raining parents can choose the drive through option or park and collect their child from the back gate as per normal. I hope this will streamline the process for everyone.

Thank you to all our community for their continued support.

Many Blessings,
