Dear Parents and Carers,
A warm welcome back to our students and families for Term 2.
In the last 2 weeks I have represented St Michael’s at Pope Francis’ Memorial Mass and the National ANZAC Day Mass both held at St Christopher’s Cathedral. In his sermon at the ANZAC Mass Fr. Raphael Abboud spoke about the humility, courage and service given freely by those who gave their lives for our nation.
I couldn’t help but reflect that this too expresses the life of Pope Francis. A humble man, committed to justice for the poor and the outcast who lived his life in service to others. The alignment of the Easter period with both events is even more poignant. Jesus gave his life freely in love so that we may have eternal life. Out of sacrifice and loss something good is born, and even in darkness the light of hope shines forth. We honour Pope Francis and those who have died in the service of their country by being people of peace. Let us be people of peace where hope is cherished and alive in every heart.
Welcome!
A warm St Michael’s welcome to Mr Ray Grzywacz who is taking over from Mr Kim Kennedy as our new janitor- maintenance officer.
Ray is with us 4 days per week (part-time) and is already on the job keeping our grounds looking beautiful.
Following a successful grant application, we also welcome Miss Meili Rae who will be with us on Mondays and Fridays in the role of Student Welfare Officer.
Meili will be supporting teachers in enhancing student wellbeing across the school. Meili has a letter of introduction in the newsletter.
Many Blessings for the coming term.
