Eucharist Retreat Day

Last Thursday the Year 4 students participated in a Eucharist Retreat Day at St Monica’s Evatt. Students were involved in a variety of activities to deepen their knowledge of the Eucharist. Activities included a role play of the Last Supper, creating a Eucharist artwork and baking bread. The Eucharist candidates also had an opportunity to practice for the Sacrament. The day concluded with adoration of the Eucharist in the church. This was an opportunity to praise Jesus for the sacrifice He made for us and spend time in prayer. Fr Mick spoke to the students about the significance of the Eucharist. He told the students that each time they gather with their family to share a meal, listen to each other and give thanks for their blessings and remember Jesus, they are living the Eucharist.

Year 3/4 Mass

Last week, as part of their Religious Education program, the Year 3/4 students participated in a class mass. Fr Mick invited the students up around the altar so they could experience the mass in a more intimate way. He explained the significance of the different parts of the mass and broke open the Eucharist in a child friendly way. This experience will no doubt be one that the students will remember for years to come. In the Gospel of Matthew we read the words of Jesus ‘Let the children come to me’, our community is blessed to have Fr Mick who welcomes all students and teaches about God’s great love for them.
