Principal's Page - Pat Ellis

We hope that everyone is getting through the week the best way they can. Thank you for your continued support and understanding.

It was great to see so many of our families on Tuesday during the drive by our school. We are really missing our students. The staff are very much struggling with not having the regular contact with them everyday. That is why we got into this profession. A new normal that we will have to get use to. Thanks to those families who were able to drive by and give us a wave. I know it meant a lot to you and I can tell you it meant a lot to our staff. We will continue to explore these fun ways to connect should remote learning continue into Term 2, which at this stage, is looking very likely. I am hoping to have more information about what Term 2 will look like before the end of this week or at least by the end of the term. As soon as I have anything confirmed, I will be letting you all know straight away. Thanks for your patience.

STUDENT FREE DAY – Monday 25th March – ConnectEd@BrightonPSJust a reminder regarding the end of the term. As mentioned yesterday in an email sent to families, this is the last week this term for Remote Learning as we see at present. Next week will be Pupil Free Days in order for staff to have much needed professional learning on the best way forward and exploring our new platform, which will be Microsoft Teams. We will continue to utilise Seesaw and the Google Suite of programs, however it will be done through Teams. More on this to follow after our training. In order for staff to be able to learn this, we are asking children to be kept at home. Only children who have no other possible care arrangements are to be sent to school. The children who do attend school will be supervised in line with duty of care, however, there will not be any expectation of teaching and learning occurring. This will be solely a supervision situation. Thank you for your understanding with this.

It is a very strange way to finish the term!

Please continue to take care of yourselves and each other.

Kind regards,

Pat Ellis (Principal)
